Hammarlund HQ-129X

Hammarlund's first post-war offering sold for $129 when introduced in 1946, but increased to $239 at the end of its run in 1953. It closely resembled the pre-war HQ-120X with an updated front panel, borrowing the '120's six-position crystal filter and control layout. Progress was evident in other areas: the HQ-129 used three 455 kHz I.F. stages, not for gain, but for the selectivity the additional tuned circuits provided. The three-section band spread-tuning capacitor also contributed to the receiver's performance . Depending upon the band, an individual section could be chosen, or they could be used in combination, to come closer to an ideal L/C ratio. The 11-tube set covered .54 - 31 MHz in 6 bands.
