Millen DFP-501

It was not until after World War II that James Millen came close to producing a receiver for the ham market, a goal he had since forming his company in 1938. The DFP-501 with direct frequency readout of ten amateur and shortwave bands, also had motor-assisted tuning and motor-driven bandswitching. The number of other features and quality of build rendered it too expensive to manufacture and sell to the ham market. Production never went beyond the one prototype pictured here (Thanks, Alan Douglas!) which made brief appearances in company literature and at trade shows.
