Johnson Viking Courier

Johnson’s Courier Amplifier, complete with built-in power supply and packaged in a Ranger-size cabinet, ran 500 watts input on CW and sideband, 200 watts AM.  The pair of parallel 811-As operated Class C for code or Class B for the phone modes.  It covered 3.5 through 30 MHz continuously with the tank variable capacitor and Pi-network roller inductor ganged to a large spinner knob on the front panel.  The tuned input was bandswitched and another control selected additional fixed capacitors for the Pi-net’s loading variable; $244.50 (Kit)  $289.50 (W/T), 1957.
